2006 Youth Recreation

 

 

Ski Day:

  • Held at Byrncliff Golf Resort, on Lincoln’s Birthday due to warm weather on Presidents Day. 

 

Easter Egg Hunt:

  • Held at Pine Tree Park, with 53 children participating, ages 18 months to 13 yrs.  An egg hunt took place and the children could have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny

 

T-Ball:

  • Games were held at Pine Tree Park.  There were six teams (two more than in 2005).  67 children, ages 4 through 9, participated.

 

Soccer:

  • This was a new program for 2006 and ran in late summer at Pine Tree Park.  Equipment was purchased and coaches recruited.  72 children ages 4 through 13 participated.

 

Swimming:

  • Swim instruction and open swimming were held at Byrncliff Golf Resort in July.  80 children were involved in the program from infant to 16 years.  A swim instructor and certified lifeguard are hired to run the program.  Participants can also play miniature golf at the resort for no addition fee.

 

Halloween Party:

  • This year’s party was held in the baquet room at the Bennington Grill.  There were two haunted houses (indoor and outdoor), as well as outdoor games arcade and indoor activities.  111 children of all ages attended.

 

Christmas Party:

  • The party was held at the Bennington Town Hall, with 40 children ages 6 months to 16 years old.  Activities included crafts, games, a magician and pictures with Santa.

 

As always, the Recreation Committee appreciates the help and contributions of all supporters throughout the year.  Parents and other adults and teens are encouraged to join in planning and holding the sports and events.  If interested in helping the Recreation Committee with their programming or with one event, please contact the Recreation Director at 591-3972.
